My husband and I bought a resort package for the Westin Inn, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Upon arriving at the airport, we were sucked in to a timeshare speech for Paradise Village. We listened, and went to the resort to see what it offered the following day. Luis Diaz was our salesman and showed us around the facility. It was beautiful, as well as the rooms. They said the tour would only take 45 minutes, but after 2 hours, Luis was still trying to sell us. When you mention it's longer than promised, they tell you, "These are Mexican minutes." He told us that we should come stay for the week, and they would reimburse us for the Westin, and at the end of the stay, if we didn't like it, we could change our minds and cancel the entire deal, with not ONE DIME out of our pockets. "No bad feelings" he says, "We shake hands and you leave on a good note" he says. HA! On the contract, section 20, it states we have a 5 day grace period stating we can cancel the contract and receive a full refund. What do we have to lose? HA! We agreed to staying for 3 nights only. So we left our PAID room at the Westin, and went to stay at Paradise Village, Puerto Vallarta. First off, right when we got there, they said that our room wasn't ready, that they had to fix the sliding glass door, so we had to 'wait' for 2 hours before getting into our 'suite'. We finally get escorted to our room, and the room is NOT what we were promised. Our 'suite', was a studio, the smallest room they have. We should have known right there, but we gave the benefit of the doubt. Our room was nice, however, it was only on the 2nd floor, and right out the balcony, was the 'quiet' pool. The pool for older more relaxed entertaining. So we had no privacy whatsoever, and if we wanted to go outside, we would have to stare at Grandma and Grandpa. Not what we had in mind. So we ask for the room they had originally promised us. After another two hour wait, they move us upstairs 2 floors. Same view, but a little higher so we aren't eye level with Grandpa. Okay fine. They promise us all inclusive, so of course, the first thing we decide to do, get a drink. The first drink I order, "I'm so sorry mam, but that drink is not included in the all inclusive, that has Bailey's in it, and that's not part of the plan." It got worse from here. The pool bar, stops serving food at 5:00 pm, and stops serving drinks at 6:00 pm! Yes, that's right, after 6, NO MORE DRINKS AT THE POOL BAR. If you want a drink after that time, you have to go to the main bar lobby that EVERYONE is going to. You can't rent boogie boards after 5:00 pm. What? And the restaurants, their food, was so sub-par. I was shocked. This beautiful place, and the food sucks? While we were sitting in the Tulum restaurant eating our bland food, we notice that the waiters and waitresses are sneaking food and drinks in the corner, right by where we were sitting. It was horribly disturbing. Then every once in a while, one of the servers would bring them a drink from the bar, and they would mix it in their tray of other drinks they were cleaning and come back randomly and drink them. I could NOT believe my eyes! This happened on 3 different occasions. That right there, sent me over the top. These people have to sneak food and drinks, and they aren't even that good at being sly. Oh my gosh, so horribly awkward. The first time we went back to our room, we were locked out. Our key didn't work! My husband stopped 3, yes THREE different staff to assist, and they wouldn't even stop walking to talk to him and would just point to the main building. Their service absolutely sucked. And when we complained, you know what Luis said? That they must not have known that we were members instead of guests. I'm sorry, what? Did you just say it's okay to treat guests that way, but for members it's wrong? This vacation is going downhill fast. At this point, we are so missing the Westin Inn, and the food over there. But we were stuck at this timeshare from ***. After speaking to other guests and finding out, that Paradise does NOT follow through with what they promise, and seeing how many people were unhappy, we were very secure with the decision to cancel this adventure. So I drew up the letter, made reference to the contract, and on our 3rd day of leaving, went to see Luis Diaz, and tell him that we were canceling, due to so many things not being as promised, the staff sneaking food during our meals, the food not being very good, not being able to get food or drinks on the beach or boogie boards after 5, the room not being as big as promised, staff not helping with our key, other members being unhappy, etc, etc. He said he would take it to Alex, and that he understood. He was visibly upset, but was mature about it. He said that the cancelation letter looked good, and that they would contact me if they needed anything further. We shook hands and parted ways. I of course have contacted American Express to let them know I would like to cancel my charge of $4095.00 dollars (down payment of the $14,000.00 timeshare we were offered for 6200 points every other year). Well then I get an email from Annie Favila, their parent/owner company in California.

Annie Favila, Verification Manager, (322) 226 **** Ext. 6106, afavila@***.com

She tells me that I have to pay for the time we stayed! They are charging me $1835.00 for 3 nights! So I'm in a battle with American Express trying to get my money refunded. Paradise said that I signed something saying I would be responsible for any monies paid if we left. I'm sorry, I do NOT recall signing such a thing. After Luis showed us on the contract that we have a 5 day grace period to cancel with no monies owed, I thought we were safe. He sent us downstairs to the bar to get a drink while they drew up the paperwork. Upon coming back 30 minutes later from the bar, and buzzed, we finished the deal. Apparently they must have slipped something in for me to sign that is voiding THEIR contract promise of no money owed if canceled? They were putting papers in front of us so fast I have no idea what was happening. They are complete crooks, and have it completely laid out to scam you with no recourse! I can't say enough to STAY AWAY from this place. Our first vacation together ever to Mexico, and it turned into a horrible nightmare, which we are having to pay for. Not to mention, the last day we were there I got ill, and was sick for 3 weeks after returning home. I had to be treated for parasites! AND PARADISE WAS THE ONLY PLACE WE ATE AT FOR DAYS!!!!! Horrible, horrible overall experience. Please do not subject yourselves to this dishonesty and scam. It is making for an upsetting holiday season for my family trying to get this resolved.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Paradise Village Pros: Counter tops in the rooms.

Paradise Village Cons: Bland food, No pool or beach drinks after 6, Food poisining, Dishonesty from staff, Room not what was promised.

Location: Yoncalla, Oregon

I had a similar experience .As an Octogenarian arriving at PVO I was shuttled into the area where the "sharKs" were ,I inquired if they would direct me to a taxi service instead followed a half hour talk with would you not like a Free Golf,or a Breakfast,we managed to tear away but fell prey to a road side vendor in Paradise Village who took us to the seminar, promising a free lunch for 15 min Introduction but" could you sign this now whilst you wait for it, to allow me to go (and get my commission) ". We then were subjected to a powerful endless salesmanship ,having listened for 30min we declared enough and prepared to leave but were Not Compensated for our time wasted.

Would I recommend this to any others?

Save you energy and time, google but never attend these scams

I've had a timeshare for 12 years always enjoyed the stay and never had a problem... there is always food available through room service and you can walk down to the store for package goods.

The staff is always kind and helpful and if we have a complaint they take care of it. I'm sorry you had so many problems my daughter just bought a timeshare there last year!
